Learning objectives:

After completing this eLearning course, you will be able to:

  • prepare the catheterization laboratory team and equipment to effectively prevent and respond to procedural complications.
  • identify early warning signs and angiographic features of critical complications such as coronary perforation, dissection, stent loss, and major bleeding.
  • apply structured, stepwise management algorithms to stabilize patients and resolve specific adverse events like stent dislodgement and severe dissections.
  • utilize advanced bailout techniques and devices, including balloon tamponade, covered stents, snares, and embolization materials, to manage life-threatening events.
  • demonstrate effective leadership and closed-loop communication strategies to manage crisis situations and conduct post-procedural debriefings.

Prerequisites:

Participants must be interventional cardiologists or trainees with a solid command of coronary anatomy, physiology, and standard PCI techniques. Proficiency in angiographic interpretation and familiarity with cath lab equipment are essential for effective participation.
